Langsett Cycles is one of the oldest cycle shops in the country. It began trading around 1890 on Langsett Road and moved to the present Infirmary Road premises in 1930 and has been an integral part of cycling in the Yorkshire/Derbyshire area ever since.
Back in the 1950’s & 60’s the famous Langsett of Sheffield Frames were made on the premises. These were treasured possessions for those lucky enough to get their hands on them or who could afford them! They were a common site on the podium at all the top races throughout the country.
During the 1980’s Langsett Cycles were at the forefront of the BMX revolution and were certainly responsible for the huge uptake of the sport in the area with its successful race team.
To more recent times and the advent of mountain bikes, Langsett Cycles were again at the forefront of the sport with a combination of top brands and riders. We were definitely a force to be reckoned with.
One of our proudest achievements was the discovery of two old Langsett boys namely Steve Peat and Will Longden. Steve and Will were weedy little teenagers when they first started to come into the shop, but as soon as you saw them on a bike it was clear to see they had something special.
Through our sponsorship and backing they went from strength to strength as can be seen from the long list of successful results in National and International events. The most significant result being Steve Peat crowned World Downhill Champion in 2009 .
We do not just cater for World Champions we have a very friendly and loyal workforce that have all worked in the shop for over 15 years so they really know their stuff. Whether it be a bolt for your kids stabilisers or help setting up the suspension on your new mountain bike.
We have a large shop which enables us to stock and display all kinds of bikes for all ages and needs.
We have a large display of clothing and accessories, with a new ladies only department with too many items to mention, so if there is anything you need for your bike we stock it!
We have been awarded the status of SHIMANO SERVICE CENTRE and have a fully equipped workshop with fully trained CYTECH mechanics that can carry out any repair you have, including work on suspension units, disc brake systems, wheel building and truing all at very reasonable prices.
